Yeast-Recombinant Hepatitis B Vaccine The recombinant vaccine is made of non-infectious HBs antigens expressed by recombinant yeast. After purification, inactivation and adsorption, the antigen is formulation in vaccine that content of one dosage (0.5 ml) is set at 5vg-antigen protein. The vaccine contains thimerosal at 30-70vg/ml as a preservative and aluminum hydroxide adjuvant in 0.35-0.62mg/ml as aluminum content. Dosage and Administration 1. For preventing hepatitis B, 0.5ml of the vaccine injected intramuscularly in deltoid of upper arm three times: two injections are given at an interval of 1 month and the third one is usually given in 6 months after the first injection. 2. The program of prevention of mother-to-child infection is intramuscularly injected first dosage (0.5 ml) to the neonates within 24hours. Two other injections are given at 1 month and 6 months after first one. Contraindications 1. Person who is onset hepatitis, infectious disease or other serious disease. 2. Hypersensitivity to yeast or any component of the vaccine. Side-Reactions This vaccine is made of highly purified HBs antigens, so no side reaction peculiar to the vaccine occurs. General side reactions are a pain on the injection site, itching, felling of lassitude and headache. Precautions 1. Shake well before withdrawal and use. 2. Vaccine cannot be used when ampoule cracked, and some blocks in vaccine cannot be shacked up. 3. Adequate treatment facilities, including adrenaline, should be available for immediate use should an anaphylactic reaction occur. 4. It is important to use a separate sterile syringe and needle for each patient to prevent transmission of infection agents from one person to another. Storage The vaccine must be maintained at 2-8℃ during shipment to ensure that there is no loss of potency. Store vaccine at 2-8℃. DO NOT FREEZE. Validity The period of validity is two (2) years.
