Speedlock Pallet Live Storage Racking System (PLS) consists of a number of gravity conveyor lanes ranged side by side and one above another. Pallets are located at the upper end of the slope and travel through the block on rollers; and they queue up at the lower end of the lanes.
This system features excellent space utilization. Pallets come out of each lane in the same sequence as they went in. There is no possibility of one being overlooked-most important when dealing with perishables. This system is often suitable where large stocks of the same products require accommodation over short periods. Fork truck mileage is often much less than with static pallet storage; consequently running costs are reduced. All types of handling equipment can be considered, and frequently a general-purpose counterbalanced truck can be employed. Pallets have to be of a suitable type. The lane depths must be carefully planned and put only one product type in each lane.
